Overview

Theatr is a mobile app for Broadway enthusiasts to trade second-hand tickets and discover shows. As the product designer, I created intuitive user experiences and interfaces that address key user needs - from customizable listing notifications to seamless ticket transfers.

Collaborating with cross-functional partners in a close feedback loop, I ensured every feature is both visually cohesive, highly functional, and aligned with our business goals at each stage.

My Design Process

Our product development workflow is iterative and rarely linear—design solutions evolve based on user feedback, data insights, and shifting product priorities. While every project is different, I generally follow this framework:

Here’s an example of my process of designing the price suggestion feature:

Define the problem

I start by meeting with the founder to understand the user problem or business opportunity. We align on goals and constraints before jumping into solutions.

Example: For the price suggestion feature, we identified that sellers struggled to price tickets competitively without manually researching comparable listings.

Research & analyze

I study how other products successfully address similar challenges—looking for patterns, best practices, and opportunities to differentiate.

Example: I analyzed dynamic pricing assistance UI in apps like Depop and XianYu to understand how they surface pricing guidance without overwhelming users.

Prototype, test, and iterate

I create prototypes (ranging from quick wireframes to polished designs depending on complexity), conduct usability tests, gather feedback from stakeholders, and iterate - often multiple rounds.

Example: The price suggestion UI went through many iterations based on founder feedback and internal testing before we felt confident handing it off.

Ship, refine, and repeat!

I clean up files and annotate it before handing them off to out engineer. After shipping the feature, I work with the CX team and founder to gather user feedback and performance metrics. If something isn't working, we repeat the process, refine, and ship updates quickly.

What I Shipped

During my time as Theatr's sole designer, my work spanned everything from foundational design systems to individual features. I've conducted user interviews, created component libraries, and shipped features across iOS and web - often wearing multiple hats in the same week. You can experience some of the features yourself here!
